In May 2019, the Australian Motorhoming Lions Club (AMLC), in partnership with the Barcaldine Regional Council (BRC), will lead efforts to break two world records at Barcaldine, Queensland.
Proceeds from this five-day event will go to regional charities.
RVers from all over Australia and beyond are invited to take part. We welcome:
- Campervans, and
- Fifth Wheelers
as per the guidelines set by Guinness World Records©.
There is no requirement for membership in any club. This is a child and pet friendly event. All we ask is that you keep your fur babies under control at all times during the event.
The record attempts will be for:
THE LARGEST PARADE OF CAMPING VEHICLES (RVs)
The current World Record was set on 22nd June 2003 when 672 camping vehicles (RVs) took part in a parade in Canelli, Italy.
In May 2019, the AMLC plan to smash this record. Our goal is to achieve a parade of at least 1,000 RVs. Won’t that be a sight to behold?
The parade of moving RVs will occur along the Isisford – Barcaldine Road, which is a long and almost straight country road.
LONGEST CONNECTED IMAGE MADE OF LED ROPE LIGHTS
The current record sits at 655 metres.
So this is how it will work…
Participants in these events will gather together in outback Queensland, camping in showgrounds at Barcaldine, Aramac, Jericho and Muttaburra, with the main event centred in Barcaldine.
In the afternoon of 25th May 2019, vehicles taking part will move out to the Isisford – Barcaldine Road and line up in preparation for the attempts. All vehicles taking part in the LONGEST CONNECTED IMAGE MADE OF LED ROPE LIGHTS will be at the front of the line. The attempt will be measured in the evening of 25th May 2019 in accordance with the Guinness World Records© guidelines.
After that it is party time on the roadside!
PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO toilet facilities out at the roadside camp.
The following morning (Sunday 26th May 2019) all vehicles, which are already lined up in single file, will participate in the attempt for the LARGEST PARADE OF CAMPING VEHICLES (RVs). The Guinness World Records© rules require that all vehicles must be moving along the road when the count takes place.
The Guinness World Record© official rules will be strictly applied by a team of marshals, who will conduct the count and measurements required to establish both records.
This is an exciting opportunity for Australian RVers to show the world what we can do.
Join in the fun and excitement and help local charities in the process.
Register now to secure your place and avoid disappointment, as campsites are limited.
We know this not to be missed event is still a long way off. To that end we have a very lenient Refund Policy, should something happen and you can’t attend. By registering early you will also be helping us give you the best possible experience in the outback.
